Carter and Darby met on February 14, 2020 at a popular restaurant in Boston called Capo. Though he's originally from California, Carter had been in the Boston area for 7+ years after pursuing hockey at Endicott College. Darby, on the other hand, had moved to Boston just 6 months prior to begin her job after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin.

Darby was celebrating "Galentine's Day" with her new friends in Boston, while Carter and his friends were hoping the holiday would bring them some potential love interests. Their plan worked, as Carter and Darby met on the dance floor that night and immediately hit it off.

Two days later, the pair went on their first date and began seeing each other regularly thereafter - including for Carter's first time doing hot yoga on their second date (one of Darby's favorite memories).

A few weeks after meeting each other, the world began to shut down with Covid cases on the rise. Both Carter and Darby were sent to work from home for 2 weeks (ha!), and Darby took advantage of the opportunity by returning home to Phoenix for a visit. As we all know now, those 2 weeks quickly turned into months - as did Darby's time in Phoenix. Despite having only known each other for a few weeks, both Carter and Darby felt that their early connection was special and fostered it through daily FaceTimes and discussing Tiger King.

After a few months in Phoenix, Darby returned to Boston and the pair made their relationship "official" - and so began 3 years of the couple growing to love each other's families and friends like their own, constantly laughing together, and finding "home" in Boston in each other.

On August 19, 2023, Carter pulled off the greatest surprise by asking Darby to marry him overlooking the water in Boston. Following a very enthusiastic "YES!" from Darby, she was doubly surprised to find that the pair's family and closest friends were in town to celebrate with them. The weekend of their engagement was the couple's happiest memory to date, and they can only imagine how special their wedding will be.

Carter and Darby look forward to celebrating their marriage with you 5 years (almost) to the day after their paths first crossed. They are immensely grateful for the support of their loved ones over the past few years - you have touched their lives and played an integral part in their story. February 15, 2025, here we come!
